Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how MKDigital ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the FitSnitch mobile application ("the App"). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Name, email address, profile photo
- Phone number (if you sign in with phone authentication)
- Authentication identifiers from Google or Apple Sign-In
Health & Fitness Data
With your explicit permission, the App reads the following from Health Connect and (where available and approved) Samsung Health:
- Steps, distance, calories burned, active minutes
- Heart rate
- Exercise sessions (type, duration, start/end time)
- Speed, elevation gained, floors climbed
This data is used solely to verify workouts, power friend challenges and Heat battles, and display your activity to you and to friends you explicitly share with. You can revoke health permissions at any time from your device settings.
Location
We collect precise and approximate location (including background location while a workout session is active) to:
- Show nearby friends, meetups, and running/hiking trails on the map
- Record outdoor workout routes
- Show nearby FitSnitch users (only those who have opted in)
Background location is only used during active detection sessions. You can disable it from your device settings.
Contacts
If you choose to find friends via contacts, we read your device contacts on-device and use them to match against other FitSnitch users. Raw contacts are not uploaded to our servers.
Content You Create
- Stories, photos, comments, reactions, nudges
- Profile information
Diagnostics
- Crash reports and performance metrics via Firebase Crashlytics
- App usage analytics via Firebase Analytics
- Device identifiers for push notifications (FCM token)
2. How We Use Information
- Provide core functionality: workout detection, friend feed, stories, meets, challenges
- Authenticate you and secure your account
- Send notifications you have opted into
- Improve the App and diagnose issues
- Prevent fraud and enforce our Terms
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, Storage, Crashlytics, Analytics, Cloud Messaging) — our backend provider.
- Google Maps Platform — for map rendering and geocoding.
- Other FitSnitch users — only information you choose to share (profile, activity, stories, location opt-ins).
- Law enforcement — only when legally required.

5. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (see Section 7). Backups are purged within 30 days of deletion.
6. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS and stored in Google Firebase with access-controlled security rules. We follow industry best practices but no system is perfectly secure.
7. Your Rights
- Access — view your data from inside the App
- Correction — edit your profile in Settings
- Deletion — delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account, or email us
- Portability — request a copy of your data by emailing us
- Revoke consent — disable permissions in device settings
8. Children
FitSnitch is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us to remove it.
9. International Transfers
Your data is processed on Google Cloud infrastructure, which may involve transfers across regions including the European Union and the United States.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be notified in-app.
